Faurecia receives the "2015 L.E.A.D.E.R. award" from Automotive News Europe / AIC

Faurecia, one of the world's largest automotive equipment suppliers, received yesterday the "2015
L.E.A.D.E.R. award" during the Automotive News Europe Congress at a special ceremony held in Birmingham, England. Faurecia has been selected as just one of three recipients of the sixth annual L.E.A.D.E.R. award. The award is selected by a judge and jury consisting of members of Automotive News Europe and the Automotive Intelligence Center (AIC) in Bilbao, Spain. The award was accepted on behalf of Faurecia by Christophe Aufrère, Vice President of Technology Strategy.
The L.E.A.D.E.R. award stands for Leaders in European Automotive Development, Excellence and Research. This award annually recognizes one manufacturer, supplier and retailer who exemplify product development, achievements and dedication to the European automotive sector.
Faurecia is being honored in the supplier category for its latest innovations in weight reduction and energy efficiency for cleaner vehicles and improved fuel economy. The developments carried out during the last year confirm Faurecia's commitment to innovation. In 2014, the Group registered 505 patents relating to new products, innovative materials and new manufacturing techniques. Faurecia accelerated its technological leadership in all of its Business Groups, with first orders for new technologies in advanced emissions control for commercial vehicles, energy recovery and composite tailgates.
"We are extremely honored and proud to have won this prestigious award for our R&D and innovation teams. Being honored is a strong recognition for the collective efforts of the 6,000 members of our R&D and innovation community around the world, who work relentlessly to develop the most advanced technologies for tomorrow's vehicles. We see ourselves as pioneers in the field of lightweight construction, sustainability, emissions control and life-on-board to bring to market best-in-class solutions and concepts for driving well- being", said Christophe Aufrère.
"Faurecia's latest innovations in weight reduction and energy efficiency for cleaner vehicles and improved fuel economy put the French supplier in a premier position as future stricter emission standards will converge on a global basis by mid next decade," stated Luca Ciferri, Automotive News Europe Editor.
"Moreover, Faurecia has a remarkable strategy that ensures all its products -from bodywork to seats and instrument panels- are both aesthetically pleasing and distinctive while at the same time meeting environmental requirements for cleaner and more efficient vehicles. They do this through optimized design, advanced manufacturing processes and the integration of new materials," underlined Inés Anitua, Managing Director of AIC.
In addition to the L.E.A.D.E.R. award, Automotive News Europe has chosen 14 young and talented automotive executives as Rising Stars within the automotive industry. A gala ceremony to celebrate the 2015 Rising Stars winners took place at Coventry Cathedral in Coventry, England, on June 9. This year, two Faurecia executives have been selected as 2015 Rising Stars: David Degrange, Chief Digital Officer and Yanik Cantieni, Vice President of Finance for Interior Systems.
The fifth annual Rising Stars awards recognize fast-rising auto leaders who are already taking big steps forward in the industry. From automakers to suppliers, manufacturing to design, logistics to purchasing, each Rising Star has spearheaded change and made progress up the career ladder.
The prestigious Automotive News Europe Rising Stars awards are jointly presented with sponsor, PwC, as well as with partner, Magma People, with trophy design by Pininfarina.
