Olivier Brandicourt est né le 13 février 1956 à Casablanca. C’est un médecin et un dirigeant d'entreprise français. Après avoir été président directeur général de Bayer Santé, il est directeur général de Sanofi depuis le 2 avril 2015.
Olivier Brandicourt possède un Diplôme d’études approfondies (DEA) en immunologie et physiopathologie cellulaire de l’université Paris Descartes. Il est également titulaire d’une maîtrise en biologie de l’université Paris XII. Enfin, il est docteur en médecine, spécialiste des maladies infectieuses et de la médecine tropicale (université de Paris V).
Olivier Brandicourt débute sa carrière en 1980 chez Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis au poste de directeur médical pour la région Afrique. Il évolue dans l’entreprise et exerce différentes responsabilités dans le domaine des affaires médicales et du marketing, avant de prendre les fonctions de directeur général de la filiale du groupe au Canada.
De 1981 à 1987 il travaille à l’Institut des maladies infectieuses et tropicales de l’hôpital de La Pitié-Salpêtrière à Paris où il mène des recherches sur le paludisme en Afrique centrale et occidentale. Puis, il exerce la médecine pendant deux ans en République du Congo.
Olivier Brandicourt intègre le groupe Pfizer en 2000. Il y restera pendant 13 ans. Il y exercera diverses responsabilités et dirigera en particulier les unités opérationnelles "produits de spécialité" de 2008 à 2009 et "médecine générale" de 2009 à 2012. Il y occupera également les fonctions de responsable de l’activité cardiologie aux États-Unis.
Il devient par ailleurs membre de l’Executive Leadership Team et président directeur général des unités opérationnelles "marchés émergents" et "produits établis" du groupe.
En 2013 il devient directeur général et président du comité exécutif de Bayer HealthCare. Il est à ce titre responsable du portefeuille mondial de la division santé de Bayer qui regroupe les activités pharmacie, santé grand public, santé animale et soins médicaux.
Grâce à sa grande expérience du secteur pharmaceutique à l’échelle internationale, il est recruté par le groupe Sanofi en avril 2015 afin d’en devenir directeur général.
Cependant, Sanofi fixant à 65 ans l'âge limite pour exercer les fonctions de directeur général, Olivier Brandicourt atteindra cette limite en février 2021. Sanofi réfléchit donc d’ores et déjà à la succession de son directeur général.
Parallèlement à ses activités, Olivier Brandicourt est membre du conseil d’administration de la Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (États-Unis), ainsi que membre du Conseil de l’International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (Suisse). Il est par ailleurs membre et vice-président de la European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (Belgique), du comité national on US-China Relations (Etats-Unis) et du Royal College of Physicians (Royaume-Uni).
