John Meserve also held several positions in the public sector, including positions as a legislative and campaign staffer to a Maine Congressman and Senators, and later in political appointments within the U.S.
Department of Commerce and U.S.
Department of Transportation.
He rose rapidly through the ranks, continuously earning more responsibility, including staffing the President’s Commission on Industrial Competitiveness and the Steel Advisory Committee, and participating in a technical telecom trade mission to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
Other major issues of involvement included the prevention of the Fujitsu acquisition of Fairchild, critical Japan trade negotiations, and other key non-trade related matters such as international whaling disputes and the establishment of the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award.
John Meserve holds an MBA from George Washington University and a BA from Bowdoin College.
He is a former chairman and member of the Institutional Brokerage Committee, Securities and Financial Markets Association; a founding member and former member of the Board of Directors for Investorside Research Association; and is a former member of the Alliance in Support of Independent Research.
He has been a frequent speaker and moderator at events held by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA – formerly SIA), Securities Traders Association, Institutional Investor events, and other specialized industry forums.
He holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.
