Sergei Dmitrievich Stanishev is the current President of the Party of European Socialists since 2011.
He was the Prime Minister of the Government of Bulgaria from 2005 to 2009 and the Leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party from 2001 to 2004.
He is also a former Member of the National Assembly of The Republic of Bulgaria.
Dr. Stanishev received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees from Moscow State University Lomonosov in 1989 and 1994, respectively.
