Profil

Mr. Heywood, a member of Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love PLLC, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with distinction, in International Relations in 1978 from Stanford University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society.
He earned his law degree in 1982 from Harvard Law School, where he served as Editor of the Harvard Law Record (1980-82) and Developments Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal (1981-82).
Mr. Heywood is a former Law Clerk of The Honorable John A. Field, Jr., Senior Judge United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
From 1989 to 1990 he served the Honorable Gaston Caperton, Governor, State of West Virginia, as Counsel, and from 1990 to 1993 he served as Governor Caperton’s Chief of Staff.
He returned to the firm in 1993 where he focuses his efforts in the areas of health care, corporate, finance and commercial law.
He currently serves as chairman of the firm’s Client Development Department, and Chairman of the firm's Health Care and Government Relations Groups.
In 1997, Mr. Heywood was appointed by Governor Cecil H.
Underwood to serve as Co-Chairman of the "Yes on 1 Committee," which successfully advocated passage of an amendment to the West Virginia Constitution that permitted the State to invest in stocks.
Mr. Heywood also served as Chairman of Governor Underwood’s Transition Committee on Medicaid and is an advisor to Mountaineer Capital.
