Alfred F. Kelly Jr. rejoint Visa en octobre 2016 et occupe le poste de directeur général dès le 1er décembre 2016. Il siège au conseil d'administration depuis 2014. Il était auparavant président de la société American Express et il a été président-directeur général d’Intersection Co.
Kelly étudie au Iona College, situé à New Rochelle dans l'Etat de New York. il obtient une licence ès arts en informatique et en sciences de l'information ainsi qu’un MBA.
Il occupe des postes de direction dans les domaines de la stratégie, des systèmes d’information et de la planification financière chez PepsiCo de 1981 à 1985. Il est responsable des systèmes d'information à la Maison-Blanche de 1985 à 1987, où il supervise les fonctions de traitement de l'information pour plusieurs agences gouvernementales.
Entre 1987 et 2010, Kelly dirige de nombreux groupes clés chez American Express : le Consumer Card Services Group, OPEN d’American Express, Consumer Travel, Chèques de voyage et services prépayés dans le monde, Services d'établissement, Amérique du Nord, Service clientèle américain, Gestion globale des risques et Services interactifs dans le monde. Il a occupé les postes de président du groupe Consommateur pour les petites entreprises et services aux marchands pour American Express Co. d’octobre 2005 au 1er juillet 2007. Il a également été président du groupe Services aux consommateurs et petites entreprises des Etats-Unis pour American Express Company de juin 2000 à juin 2005.
Avant de devenir PDG d’Intersection Co., il était conseiller en gestion chez TowerBrook Capital Partners LP. De 2011 à la fin de 2014, Kelly a été président et responsable de la direction du comité hôte du Super Bowl NY / NJ 2014.
Kelly est administrateur indépendant de Visa Inc. depuis le 29 janvier 2014. Il a été administrateur de nombreuses institutions : MetLife (2009 à 2018), Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (de 2009 à 2018), Affinion Group Holdings, Inc (de 2011 à 2013), The Hershey Company (2005 à 2007). Il a aussi été vice-président du conseil de la Classique de golf de Wall Street Charity pendant 12 ans et président du conseil d’administration de School of the Holy Child.
