Mr. Daniel P. Amos is Chairman & Chief Executive Officer at American Family Life Assurance Co. and Aflac, Inc.

He joined American Family Life Assurance Co. (Aflac) in 1973 and worked in the sales area for 10 years. In 1983, he was named president of Aflac, chief operating officer in 1987, chief executive officer of Aflac Incorporated in 1990 and chairman in 2001. Aflac is a Fortune 500 company that insures more than 50 million people worldwide. It is the leading provider of individual insurance policies offered at the worksite in the United States and is the largest life insurer in Japan in terms of individual policies in force. In Japan, the company insures 1 out of 4 Japanese households.
Mr. Amos was previously employed as an Independent Director by Synovus Financial Corp., a Trustee by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Inc., Chairman by The Japan America Society of Georgia, Inc., and University of Georgia Foundation.
He also served on the board at The Southern Co. and Synovus Financial Corp. Mr. Amos also serves on the board of the House of Mercy of Columbus and previously served as a member of the Consumer Affairs Advisory Committee of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in risk management.
