Profil
Prior to joining the Ford Foundation in 2006, Ms. Starr was a senior program officer at the New World Foundation in New York.
Much of her grant making there focused on the Deep South and Appalachia, and she worked on developing programs to strengthen capacity and leadership among nonprofit groups.
She also was an associate producer for Public Interest Radio's In the Public Interest in New York, and executive director of the Weston-METCO Public School Program in Massachusetts.
Ms. Starr is on the board of the Seasons Fund for Social Transformation.
Previous board service includes the Progressive Technology Project and the Needmor Fund.
She has studied leadership and organizational development and has an M.F.A. in writing from Bard College.
