Benoît Coquart est né le 30 novembre 1973. C’est un dirigeant d’entreprise connu pour être le directeur général du groupe Legrand, spécialiste des infrastructures électriques et numériques du bâtiment, depuis février 2018.
Benoît Coquart est diplômé de l'institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris) et de l'ESSEC.
En 1997, il rejoint Legrand dès la fin de ses études. Il prend en charge la responsabilité des activités du groupe en Corée du Sud.
Il occupe ensuite divers postes de direction au sein du groupe avec succès. Il prend notamment en charge le poste de responsable des relations investisseurs.
Puis, il devient successivement directeur du corporate development (M&A), directeur de la stratégie et du développement en charge des fusions et acquisitions et directeur France.
En 2015, il devient vice-président exécutif France.
Membre du comité de direction de Legrand depuis 2010, Benoît Coquart est nommé directeur général de Legrand le 8 février 2018, après la dissociation de la fonction de président directeur général. L’objectif de celle-ci est de permettre aux deux fonctions d’être exercées pleinement et au groupe de poursuivre son développement dans les meilleures conditions. Il succède à Gilles Schnepp, qui conserve la présidence du conseil d'administration du groupe Legrand.
Benoît Coquart a été initialement l'un des acteurs clés de la transformation numérique du groupe Legrand. Chargé depuis 2010 de la stratégie et du développement, il avait aussi pour mission d’assurer la digitalisation du groupe. Il a notamment soutenu Eliot, un vaste programme de recherche et développement, industriel et marketing. Celui-ci est dédié aux objets connectés et a pour objectif d’accélérer la digitalisation de l’offre du groupe.
En quelques années, cet effort lié au numérique a fait passer le budget de dépenses marketing dans le digital de 4% il y a cinq ans à 20% en 2018. Avec neuf rachats d’entreprises spécialisées en dix ans, Benoît Coquart a réussi à bâtir une position forte et internationale dans les infrastructures numériques. Grâce à ce succès, il a été nommé dans la catégorie Smart Boss aux Trophées des industries numériques en octobre 2015.
Après sa nomination en tant que directeur général du groupe en 2018, Benoît Coquart a indiqué que le groupe Legrand allait continuer à évoluer mais que ses fondamentaux allaient rester inchangés.
L’objectif de Benoît Coquart est d’axer le développement du groupe sur les infrastructures numériques, l'efficacité énergétique, les produits connectés, les centres de données et l'assistance à l'autonomie.
