He has been in the financial services industry since 1989.
He started in corporate finance with Simmons & Company International - a boutique investment bank serving the oil services industry.
He and a team founded the research-sales-trading arm of Simmons & Company in 1993, where he began his equity research career.
He has worked for a number of investment banks and broker-dealers over the years, including Jefferies & Company, Royal Bank of Canada, South coast Capital and Pritchard Capital.
He has worked on about $9 billion of transactions in his career.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McKenzie spent nearly two years as a buy side analyst with Lafitte Capital – an Austin Texas based hedge fund.
His support of the fund spanned most areas of energy and industrial equipment manufacturers.
Before his career in the financial services industry, he spent approximately 10 years as an Electronics Engineer, designing wireline logging tools and MWD equipment for Schlumberger and Halliburton in the Oil Services industry, and as a rocket scientist for Texas Instruments and the US Army Missile Command.
He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a BSEE from the University of Alabama.
