Mr. Bewkes is a Founder of GarMark.
He also chairs GarMark’s Investment Committee and serves on numerous portfolio company boards.
From January 1994 until the formation of GarMark, Mr. Bewkes was a Member of the Management Committee and Head of the North American Corporate and Real Estate Investment Group for Investcorp, an international private equity investment firm.
From 1985 until 1994, Mr. Bewkes was with Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. Mr. Bewkes was named a Senior Managing Director of Bear Stearns in 1986, serving on the firm’s Management Committee and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1989 and he continued to serve after his departure until 1997.
Mr. Bewkes was Co-Head of Mergers and Acquisitions and Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Co-Chairman of Bear Stearns’ Underwriting Committee.
From 1977 until 1985, Mr. Bewkes was with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company.
He co-founded MHT’s Specialized Leveraged Financing Unit, the first dedicated acquisition finance group established by a commercial bank.
Mr. Bewkes began his career as a loan Officer at Citicorp in 1974 after receiving his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He also attended St. Lawrence University and Deerfield Academy and served as a Trustee of both schools.
