From 1996 until founding East Hill, Mr. Garner was the Chief Investment Officer of Cypress Tree Investment Management Co., an investment management firm he co-founded with Berkshire Partners.
He raised assets of over $2.5 billion and was the senior investment professional at the firm.
From 1987 to 1996, Mr. Garner was a senior portfolio manager at Eaton Vance Corp., a publicly traded investment management firm, and developed the company Prime Rate vehicle, which raised over $2.5 billion.
Prior to joining Eaton Vance, his experience was in commercial banking at Texas Commerce Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) and investment banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (now Credit Suisse First Boston).
Mr. Garner received a BBA, magna cum laude, from Southern Methodist University and a MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and is a member of the Boston Society of Security Analysts.
