Josh Walker focuses on creating and identifying new investment opportunities for General Catalyst in RFID and related markets.
Josh joins General Catalyst from Forrester Research, a leading technology market research company, where he spent the past six years of his career.
In his most recent position as vice president - research director, Josh managed Forrester’s Consumer Markets research team and helped drive Forrester’s research in the consumer package goods (CPG), retail, travel, and auto markets.
He also launched Forrester’s extended RFID working group and published several strategy reports on the RFID market.
Prior to this position, Josh followed the technologies used to build corporate applications, with a focus on Java and XML, application development tools, middleware, and intranets.
He helped design and launch Forrester’s technology evaluation tool, TechRankings.
Under Josh’s management, the TechRankings team published more than a dozen software market lab evaluations including commerce server, customer service, marketing automation, application server, business intelligence, content management, enterprise portal, procurement and sourcing, integration server, and business process management.
Prior to his management positions, Josh was a research associate with Forrester’s Software Strategies team.
In this role, he conducted more than 300 interviews with IT executives to understand their technology strategies and drove Forrester’s Fortune 1,000 research on a range of topics, including intranet development, data analysis, and application integration.
Prior to joining Forrester, Josh designed Web sites and advertisements for Delphi Internet.
In addition to leading graphic design efforts, he wrote and edited content for Delphi’s communities and helped launch early eCommerce efforts.
He came to Delphi after working as a freelance journalist in both print and broadcast media.
Josh is a graduate of Middlebury College.
