Dr. Mary E.
Lord is Senior Vice President & Chief Investment Officer at Spero-Smith Investment Advisers, Inc. With over 25 years of experience in the investment industry, Mimi has both broad and deep expertise in multiple asset classes and in portfolio construction for different client profiles.
She directs the firm’s investment strategy and investment research process and supervises the investment management team.
Prior to re-joining Spero-Smith in 2007, she worked for two nationally recognized financial services companies, Morningstar and TIAA-CREF from 2000 to 2007.
At Morningstar, she helped design and launch a new website for financial advisors and wrote weekly columns on investment and financial planning topics.
At TIAA-CREF, she served as liaison to an advisory board of independent financial advisors, writer/editor of various publications related to investing and retirement planning, and analyst of an annual survey on university endowment practices.
In a special assignment lasting one year, she was Director of Product Development at TIAA-CREF Asset Management during the preparation and launch of 12 new investment portfolios for college and university endowments.
Dr. Lord received her Ph.D in Management from Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management, an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Journalism from Indiana University.
She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER.
She is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, the Financial Planning Association and the CFA Institute.
