Olivia joined SignalFire in 2020, where she drives data insights that inform the firm’s investment strategy and that support portfolio companies’ needs.
She works closely with SignalFire’s engineering and data science teams to ensure that these insights feed back into improving internal systems.
Prior to SignalFire, Olivia was a Ph.D.
student in Statistics at UC Berkeley where her research focused on causal inference methods.
Before that, Olivia worked at Quora as a Data Scientist on the feed ranking team.
She was also heavily involved in Quora’s data research and metrics operations.
While in school, she interned as a machine learning engineer for Coinbase, a software engineer for Google, and a data scientist for Akamai Technologies.
Olivia graduated from Harvard University in 2015 with a BA in Statistics and Computer Science with highest honors.
Her senior thesis demonstrated that data anonymization methods can statistically distort datasets and proposed algorithms to minimize this distortion.
This research earned the cover article of the September/October 2015 issue of the ACM Queue.
Outside of work, Olivia is an avid rock climber, and has recently climbed Half Dome in Yosemite and Mount Whitney.
She does the New York Times crossword puzzle daily, enjoys coffee, and loves philosophizing about big ideas.
