Since co-founding Thompson Clive in 1977, Richard Thompson has successfully invested in the pharma and biotech services, enterprise software, IT services and B2B e-commerce industries.
He is active with the portfolio companies and currently serves on the board of directors of several privately held technology companies.
He is currently Chairman of Solon Ventures.
Prior to Thompson Clive, Richard was with the Rothschild Group as Chief Executive and Joint Managing Director of New Court & Partners, its venture capital wing.
He qualified as a chartered engineer with Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners and then joined the P-E Consulting Group, where he eventually became the Director for the worldwide corporate strategy practice.
Richard holds an MA in mechanical sciences from Cambridge University.
