Sir Robin joined BP’s board in 1987.
He represents the board on the BP technology advisory council.
In 1976, he became managing director of Inco Europe Limited.
He was chief scientific adviser in the Cabinet Office from 1981 to 1985.
Between 1986 and 1996, he was an executive director of Pilkington.
He is a non-executive director of Rolls-Royce Group plc.
Member of the chairman’s and nomination committees and chairman of the remuneration committee.
