Gerry Jayawardena is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director at Kegalle Plantations PLC since 2010.
He is also a Member of the Governors Board at Sri Lanka Tea Board, a Member of the Governors Board at Tea Shakthi Fund, and a Member of the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka.
Previously, he served as the Chairman of The National Institute of Plantation Management.
From 2006 to 2015, he was the Chairman of the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka.
He also held the position of Chairman at Coconut Research Institute and served as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Talawakelle Tea Estates Plc.
Additionally, he was the Director General of Agriculture at the Sri Lanka Ministry of Agriculture from 1968 to 2011.
He served as a Director at the Tea Research Board and was a Member of the Governors Board at Tea Small Holdings Development Authority.
From 2006 to 2019, he was a Member of the National Salaries & Cadre Commission.
Dr. Jayawardena holds a doctorate degree from Kyoto University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Ceylon.
