Mr. Thomas Smykowski is a Senior Managing Director, Head of Global Portfolio & ETF Trading at BTIG LLC.
He is responsible for launching the firm’s Global Portfolio and ETF Trading business as well as Transition Management.
He leads a team of more than a dozen traders, sales professionals, transition managers, strategists, quantitative financial engineers and systems developers.
Prior to BTIG, he managed Global Portfolio and ETF Execution at ConvergEx, an affiliate of BNY Mellon, between 2005 and 2013.
Mr. Smykowski was instrumental in establishing the firm’s ETF product in 2011.
Previously, he was an Associate Director of Portfolio Trading at Bear Stearns, a firm he joined in 1999 as a connectivity and DMA expert.
He began his career as an electrical engineer developing control systems for the Power Plant division of General Electric.
He received a BS in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
