Thomson, CFA MBA, is Managing Director & Portfolio Manager at Newport Private Wealth, Inc. and a Managing Director at Newport Securities, Inc. In 2008, he joined Newport, attracted by the firm’s ‘open architecture’ approach of hiring independent money managers with specialized expertise.
Mr. Thomson works closely with client families from both Ontario and Western Canada.
Prior to joining Newport Private Wealth, Mr. Thomson was employed by Mulvihill Capital Management where he advanced through the roles of Fixed Income Trader, Equity Analyst, and finally Portfolio Manager working with Mulvihill’s institutional and private client families and a Research Analyst by Deloitte & Touche, Inc.
Mr. Thomson received his MBA from the University of Western Ontario - The Richard Ivey School of Business.
He is a CFA Charterholder.
