Smith & Nephew Plc est spécialisé dans la conception, la fabrication et la commercialisation de produits et d'équipements médicaux. Le CA par secteur d'activité se répartit comme suit :

- chirurgie orthopédique (39,9%) : notamment implants orthopédiques (hanches, genoux et épaules)

- médecine sportive, arthroscopie et chirurgie cervico-faciale (31,2%) : produits et instruments de chirurgie et de réparation des tissus endommagés, produits de visualisation, etc. ;

- soin des plaies (28,9% ; n° 1 mondial) : greffes de peau destinées aux grands brûlés, traitements pour les ulcères de jambe, etc.

53,7% du CA est réalisé aux Etats-Unis.
