Carlo Carraro is the founder of the Coalition Theory Network, founded in 1995, and GRETA Associati, founded in 1992.
He currently holds positions as Vice Chairman of the Working Group III, Director-Climate Impacts & Policy Division at the Centro Euro-Mediterraneo per i Cambiamenti Climatici Scarl, Director at the Parco Scientifico Tecnologico di Venezia SCARL since 2011, President of Universita Ca' Foscari di Venezia since 2012, Member of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, Member of the European Research Council, Member of the Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change, and President of the School For Advanced Studies in Venice.
He is also a Member of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti since 2012.
Previously, he served as Chairman of the Centro Internazionale di Studi sull'Economia Turistica, Independent Director & Member-General Council at Assicurazioni Generali SpA from 2011 to 2012, Independent Director at Banca Popolare di Vicenza SCpA, Director of the Coordinamento Interuniversitario Veneto per le Nanotecnologie in 2005, Director of the European Climate Forum from 2001 to 2007, Professor at Clemson University in 1994, Professor-Industrial Organization at The LUISS University of Rome from 1987 to 2012, Professor at the University of Udine in 1993, and Member of DG Environment in 2006.
He obtained his graduate and doctorate degrees from Princeton University in 1984 and 1985 respectively, and his undergraduate degree from Universita Ca' Foscari di Venezia in 1981.
