S. Edward "Eddie" Lampert est un investisseur américain, financier et homme d'affaires. Il est le président de Sears Holdings Corporation (SHLD) et fondateur de ESL Investments.
En 1984, Lampert fut diplômé en économie à l'Université de Yale, où il a été membre de Skull and Bones et Phi Beta Kappa. Il a fait un stage chez Goldman Sachs en Juillet 1984 et a travaillé dans l'entreprise au département arbitrage des risques de Mars 1985 à Février 1988. Il a travaillé directement avec Robert Rubin (futur secrétaire au trésor des Etats-Unis).
Il a quitté la banque pour former ESL Investments, basé à Greenwich, Connecticut, en avril 1988.
Richard Rainwater, qu'il avait rencontré sur l'île de Nantucket, lui a donné 28 millions de dollars en capitaux d'amorçage et l'a présenté à ses clients, tels que David Geffen.
Le profil d'investissement de Lamper peut être décrit comme un « concentré de valeur », mettant souvent l'accent sur le secteur de la distribution. Il a produit des rendements annuels de 30% depuis la formation de son fonds. Lampert garde habituellement ses investissements plusieurs années.
