Mr. George Kershoff is Deputy Director at Bureau for Economic Research.
He started working at the Bureau for Economic Research in 1994.
In 1999, he was promoted to senior economist.
His duties include the management of the BER’s surveys, analysing economic and sector data, as well as doing presentations to private companies and government institutions.
His research initially focussed on household consumption expenditure, retail sales, the financial services sector and inflation, but shifted to business survey methodology and South-African sector trends in recent years.
In 2000, he developed an inflation expectation survey for the SA Reserve Bank and in 2002 a financial services survey for Ernst & Young.
He was promoted to deputy-director of the BER in July 2005.
His responsibilities include the day-to-day management of the BER’s production process and a number of surveys, such as consumer confidence, business confidence, inflation expectations and financial services.
Mr. Kershoff received a MA degree from Stellenbosch University and a DAAD scholarship to do part of the research at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany.
