Roy was appointed Group Chief Executive with effect from March 2001.
He joined the Board in October 1995 as Group Finance Director.
A chartered accountant, he qualified with Price Waterhouse and subsequently held positions with Meggitt plc and BICC plc.
In September 2002 he was appointed as a Non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Aggreko plc
