Mr. Basso joined the Mario L.
Basso Agency founded by his father in 1970 and assumed management at a time when it had only seven employees.
Under his leadership, the firm grew to become one of the larger, more prominent agencies in the area by the time it merged with the Alburger de Grosz Agency in 1990.
He is a co-founder of ABD Insurance and Financial Services, one of the largest insurance brokerages in the United States and is the current Chairman.
Mr. Basso was born in San Francisco and raised in San Mateo.
He earned a bachelor's degree in business from San Francisco State University in 1972, and has attended continuous executive programs from the Wharton School of Business, Stanford University, and the University of California at Berkeley.
Mr. Basso serves as a member of various boards and committees; including various Insurance Carrier President's Advisory Councils, the Board of Directors World Broker Federation, Washington, D.C., the Board of Directors of Copaprose/Latin America; Board of Directors, Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers of Washington DC; the California Department of Insurance Advisory Board; and the Executive Committee of the World Broker Network.
Mr. Basso is also the current past Chairman of the Insurance Industry Charitable Fund and a member of its Board of Directors.
