With a background in electrical engineering, Dave Cheesman has been involved in the commercial development and marketing of technology since the earliest days of computing.
In the 70s he honed his management skills and understanding of systems with Honeywell, CASE and Varian / Univac, going on to manage the worldwide sales of Prime Computers INFORMATION operating system.
Specialising in telecomms, data management and transaction processing systems, Dave was responsible for developing 'green-field' markets for Prime Computer product ranges.
He went on to spearhead a major reorganisation of Dowty Information Systems computer and data communication activities.
Dave Cheesman joined 3i in 1988 and successfully built an IT / Electronics sector investment portfolio as Director of the High Technology Unit.
In 1992 he set up, with Nick Teasdale, TriTech Investment Managers.
He has worked for Advent since 1996 and is on the Board of several Advent investee companies.
