Ms. Semans is the great-niece of James B. Duke, founder of The Duke Endowment.
She is an Emerita Member of the Boards of Trustees of Duke University and its Kenan Institute of Ethics.
In addition, she is Chair of the Executive Mansion Fine Arts Committee, Honorary Trustee of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Trustee Emerita of the North Carolina Museum of Art.
She also is an Honorary Member of the Conservation Trust of North Carolina and serves on the Friends of Duke University Library and on the Board of Visitors for Duke University Medical Center.
