Charles Beigbeder est le fondateur de Poweo, premier fournisseur alternatif d'énergie. Il est toujours en première ligne lorsqu'il s'agit de militer pour une réduction des charges patronales et un assouplissement des licenciements.
Diplômé en 1988 de l'École Centrale de Paris, Charles Beigbeder décroche un contrat d'ingénieur chez Matra Marconi Space.
En 1990, il s'oriente vers l'investissement. Il travaille d'abord chez Paribas Affaires Industrielles avant de rejoindre en 1991 CSFB (Crédit Suisse First Boston). Il y restera jusqu'en 1994, date à laquelle il rejoint MC-BBL Securities à Londres où il exerce en tant que directeur associé.
En 1997, internet est un des secteurs les plus prometteurs pour la finance. Charles Beigbeder crée alors Selftrade, une société de courtage en ligne désormais propriété du groupe Boursorama.
En 2002, Bruxelles siffle la fin du monopole d'EDF sur le marché de l'électricité. Charles Beigbeder veut profiter de l'ouverture du marché à la concurrence. Il crée alors Poweo, un fournisseur alternatif d'énergie, et table sur une tarification 10% moins chère pour attirer les clients du fournisseur historique. En juin 2005, l'entreprise se diversifie dans le gaz.
En 2008, Poweo qui a réussi à convaincre quelques groupes dont Carrefour à acheter son énergie, annonce un chiffre d'affaires de 577,3 millions d'euros, soit une hausse de 59% par rapport à l'année précédente.
De juin 2004 à juillet 2005, Charles Beigbeder préside l'association Croissance Plus, un think tank regroupant des entreprises à forte croissance. Il en est par la suite vice-président, puis devient membre de son comité directeur.
En 2005, il est candidat à la présidence du Medef, il est coiffé au poteau par Laurence Parisot.
