Prior to joining ING, Mr. Lee held a series of positions with Standard Chartered Bank in the credit approval and problem loan management functions starting in 1992.
In his last position at Standard Chartered Bank, he served as the Regional Head of Risk for the bank’s Global Special Asset Management unit where he approved workout strategies, restructuring proposals and loan loss provisions for the bank’s troubled assets throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, Middle East and South Asia.
From 1984 to 1992, he lived and worked in Guayaquil, Ecuador, initially as a credit officer with Citibank and later providing consulting services to various Ecuadorian banks on credit analysis techniques in an inflationary environment.
Curtis started his banking career in 1982 at United New Mexico Financial Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Curtis holds a B.A. degree in journalism, a M.A. in Latin American Studies and an M.B.A. in International Management from the University of New Mexico, where he graduated with honors.
He is also fluent in Spanish.
