Mr. Joel J.
Houck, CFA MBA, is a Chief Investment Officer & Shareholder at HB Wealth Management LLC (GA).
He and his team work closely with investment, operations, and advisory leadership to ensure HB’s investments are of the highest quality and delivered in an efficient manner.
He also oversees the firm’s investment policy statement (IPS) program.
He is Chairman of HB’s Investment Committee and a member of the firm’s management team.
He joined HB Wealth in January 2025 as a Shareholder after working with WMS Partners since June 2021.
While at WMS Partners, he was Chief Operating Officer of Investments and a Senior Financial Advisor.
Prior to this, he managed a volatility hedge fund for Cicero Capital Partners from 2018 to 2020.
Before Cicero Capital, he was managing director at Wells Fargo from 2010 to 2017, where he led the Specialty Finance equity research team.
Before Wells Fargo, he worked at American Capital, Ltd. from 2008 to 2009 as managing director and incubated the firm’s first investment strategy around public investments.
Before American Capital, he was at Wachovia Securities from 2002 to 2007 as managing director and head of Specialty Finance equity research.
Prior to Wachovia, he was at A.G.
Edwards & Sons from 1997 to 2002 as both an associate and senior analyst covering specialty finance stocks.
Before A.G.
Edwards, he was in commercial banking from 1991 to 1997 with PNC and Bank of America.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Statistics from Miami University, Oxford, OH, and went on to receive his Master’s of Business Administration from Miami University, Oxford, OH.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Financial Planner Professional & a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
