Mr. Richard J.
Greene, CFA MBA, is a Managing Partner & Portfolio Manager at Thunder Capital Management LLC.
He is also a Chairman of the firm.
He began his investment career in New York in 1983 as a stock generalist at Nikko Securities International following mainly large-cap stocks.
After one year with the firm, he was the youngest member ever appointed to the Nikko Securities International Stock Selection Committee.
Over the following years he developed specialties in the energy, transportation and utility industries and was promoted to Assistant Portfolio Manager and later, Chief International Investment Strategist, working in both New York and Tokyo.
Between 1992 and 1993, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Klinz Group, an investment banking boutique, concentrating on investments in the former Soviet Union.
He was involved in structuring financial arrangements, utilizing joint ventures, joint stock companies, direct trade, counter-trade, swap arrangements and licensing agreements across a broad spectrum of industries.
These industries included mining, communications, metals, chemicals, hotels, energy, oil and gas.
From 1993 to 1995, Richard was Senior vice-President for Unifund based in Geneva and was Group Director of Mexico for Unifund S.A. in Mexico City.
From 1996 to 1998 he was a partner, portfolio manager as well as head trader at Bulldog Capital Management L.P., an investment advisor specializing in fundamental “bottom-up” research in small-to mid-capitalization stocks and short selling from 1996-1998.
Upon joining Bulldog, he assumed responsibility for hard asset investments, research, and portfolio hedging.
In addition, he devised option strategies to immunize portfolios against sharp market declines.
He graduated from St. Leo College, received his MBA in Finance, Management and International Business from the University of South Florida and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
