Mr. Alkarim A. Jiwa, CFA, is a Managing Director & Portfolio Manager of Canadian Equities at ONEX Canada Asset Management, Inc. He leads the firm’s Canadian equity strategies and is the lead manager of the Premium Income and Dividend Distribution portfolios.
He has over 20 years of experience in the financial markets.
Prior to joining Gluskin Sheff in 2018, Mr. Jiwa worked at BMO Global Asset Management as the lead portfolio manager for the BMO Private Canadian Income Equity Portfolio and manager of the BMO Canadian Alpha Plus Fund.
In addition, Mr. Jiwa served on the BMO Global Asset Management Asset Allocation Committee.
Mr. Jiwa began his career at Manulife Financial in their actuarial rotation program where he worked in Reinsurance, U.S.
Individual, and Asset Liability Management.
He received an Honors Bachelor of Science degree majoring in actuarial science from the University of Western Ontario.
He has earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
