Mr. Gregory Shefrin is Senior Managing Director at Focus Capital and leads its Education Services practice.
He brings over 20 years of investment banking, corporate finance and private wealth management experience, having originated and managed over $5 billion in credit commitments across the media, telecom, real estate, consumer and transportation industries and captured over $1 billion in new private wealth assets.
Mr. Shefrin was previously a senior member of Deutsche Bank’s investment banking/private wealth management cross-sell group, responsible for sourcing new managed assets from its Financial Sponsor, Real Estate & Gaming, Media & Telecom and Consumer Groups, as well as from private bankers and brokers.
Prior to that, he was a Director in several corporate finance and investment banking groups at Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust and The Bank of New York, covering both leveraged and Fortune 500 clients.
Mr. Shefrin collaborates with David Shefrin, who is founder of David Shefrin and Associates (DSA), a consulting boutique exclusively servicing the for-profit education sector.
David Shefrin has been involved in the private career school sector for over 35 years, first as an owner of the largest computer training chain in the northeast and now as Chairman and CEO of DSA, which specializes in M&A advisory and C-Suite executive recruiting.
Based on his unparalleled industry expertise and deep network of contacts, David Shefrin is a recognized leader in this sector.
Mr. Shefrin received his MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and his BA in Economics and Government from Colby College.
He holds the Series 7 and 63 securities industry licenses.
