Mr. Jim M.
Petras is a Managing Director at Early Stage Partners.
He joined Early Stage Partners in 2001.
He has been Managing Director of Capital One Partners, the parent of Early Stage Partners, since 1993.
In 1988, he founded Cleveland-based Wolfensohn Ventures LP, a $50 million investment fund that sourced, structured and managed middle-market equity investments and was funded by Australian billionaire and media entrepreneur, Kerry Packer, and the former President of World Bank, James D.
Wolfensohn.
In addition, Mr. Petras founded and staffed a successful venture unit based in Cleveland for Citicorp.
While with Citicorp, he managed a region of the firm's leveraged lending business with offices in 3 states, a loan portfolio in excess of $1.2 billion and a team of over 100 professionals.
He also served as Chairman of the Board of SIMCALA, Inc. Mr. Petras is the former Chairman of the Board and is currently a Director of Pasta Montana, a $17 million start-up manufacturer of pasta products.
In addition, he serves on the boards of Five Star Technologies, Excera, OPTEM, Simbionix, Thin Battery Technologies and EcoSmart.
Mr. Petras received a BA from Oberlin College in 1974.
He received an MA and an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1978.
Mr. Petras is a member of the Ohio and Illinois Societies of CPAs, the AICPA and the Cleveland Chapter of the Young President's Organization (YPO).
He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland.
