After graduating from New College, Oxford in 1979 Richard's first job was as an economic researcher in Brussels.
Since 1985 he has been within the HSBC group.
He worked in the investment management division of James Capel before moving to HSBC treasury in 1990, initially to produce FX market analysis and, for the last 10 years, as a proprietary trader.
Richard manages the Odey Treasury Fund.
