Vinci : Silo repairs completed at the country’s only cement plant

In June 2020, Freyssinet New Zealand (Soletanche Freyssinet/VINCI Construction) completed the works to restore the last of the silos at the Golden Bay cement plant, in Portland.
Of key importance for the region, this plant covers the requirements of the whole country and of the islands in the Pacific.Their condition having deteriorated as a result of lack of maintenance, the capacity of the silos had been reduced in order to avoid any failure. Contrary to the recommendation of consultants that the damaged silos be demolished, Freyssinet suggested a strategy of repairing them over a period of five years, including using shotcrete and additional prestressed concrete. This operation made it possible to restore their capacity to 100%, but also to extend their life expectancy by 25 years.

- conception et construction d'ouvrages (44,7% ; VINCI Construction) : notamment dans les domaines du bâtiment, du génie civil et de l'hydraulique. Par ailleurs, le groupe développe une activité de construction, de rénovation et d'entretien d'infrastructures de transport (routes, autoroutes et voies ferrées ; Eurovia), de production de granulats (n° 1 français) et d'aménagement urbain ;
- conception, réalisation et maintenance d'infrastructures d'énergies et de télécoms (36,7% ; VINCI Energies et Cobra IS) ;
- gestion déléguée d'infrastructures (16,8% ; VINCI Concessions) : principalement gestion de routes et d'autoroutes (notamment à travers Autoroutes du Sud de la France et Cofiroute), de parcs de stationnement et d'aéroports ;
- autres (1,8%) : notamment promotion immobilière (immobilier résidentiel, immobilier d'entreprise, résidences gérées et services immobiliers).
La répartition géographique du CA est la suivante : France (43%), Royaume Uni (8,6%), Allemagne (7%), Espagne (5%), Europe (13,6%), Amérique du Nord (7,8%), Amérique centrale et du Sud (6,3%), Océanie (3,7%), Afrique (2,7%) et Asie et Moyen-Orient (2,3%).
