EXPLANATORY NOTE
Caterpillar Inc. is filing this Amendment No. 1 (the "Form 8-K/A") to its Current Report on Form 8-K (the "Form 8-K"), filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 23, 2018, solely to correct a typographical error appearing in the press release filed as Exhibit 99.1. In the summary table included on the first page of the press release, the heading has been corrected to be titled "Third Quarter" rather than "Second Quarter" as previously labeled.
Except as specifically noted above, this Form 8-K/A does not modify or update disclosures in the original Form 8-K or the press release filedas Exhibit 99.1.
The actual press release was correct and no other changes are being made to the original Form 8-K.

Caterpillar Inc. est le 1er producteur mondial de matériels de construction et d'exploitation minière, de moteurs diesel et à gaz naturel, et de turbines à gaz industrielles. Le CA par activité se répartit comme suit :
- vente d'engins et de moteurs (94,2%) : engins de terrassement et de construction (pelleteuses, élévateurs, bulldozers, etc.), tracteurs agricoles et forestiers, moteurs et turbines (destinés aux poids lourds, aux bateaux, aux machines industrielles et aux centrales électriques), systèmes de trains de roulement, circuits et composants hydrauliques, etc. ;
- prestations de services financiers (5,2%) ;
- autres (0,6%).
La répartition géographique du CA est la suivante : Amérique du Nord (51,6%), Europe-Afrique-Moyen Orient (20,4%), Asie-Pacifique (18,1%) et Amérique latine (9,9%).
